Criteria for scholarships
Criteria for selecting scholarship recipients might include (but are not limited to) the following:
past academic performance,
performance of each applicant on tests designed to measure ability and aptitude for educational work,
recommendations from instructors of such applicant and any others who know the applicant’s capabilities,
additional biographical information regarding an applicant’s career,
academic and other relevant experiences,
financial need, access to (or lack thereof) government financial aid,
and conclusions that the grant selection committee may draw as to the applicant’s character, values, frame of mind, behavioral traits, ability, or potential.
Criteria may also include:
the applicant’s place of residence,
past or future attendance at a particular school,
past or proposed course of study or evidence of his or her artistic, scientific, or other special talent.
Preference may be given to applicants who do not have access to financial aid from federal/state/local government, federal student loans, and well-known large scholarship programs such as the National Merit Scholarship, The Gates scholarships, Coca-Cola scholarships, United Negro College Fund, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, etc. Preference may be given to applicants from a particular region or background so long as such preference does not violate public policy.
Grant Monitoring and Compliance Procedures
Raamkrut Foundation’s grant procedure provides for proper follow-up by the foundation to determine whether grantees have performed the activities that the grants are intended to finance and have not diverted grant funds away from the original purposes of the grant.
The foundation will implement the following requirements:
Periodic progress reports are made to the foundation to determine whether grantees have performed the activities the grants are intended to finance,
The foundation investigates and takes corrective action when progress reports are not provided or there are other indications that grants are not being used as intended, and
The foundation keeps records relating to all grants to individuals, including:
information obtained to evaluate potential grantees,
identification of grantees, including any relationship of the grantee to the foundation that makes the grantee a disqualified person,
amount and purpose of each grant, and
follow-up information, including required annual reports and investigation of jeopardized grants.
Any funds not expended for the purpose of the scholarship or fellowship grant must be returned to Raamkrut Foundation for use in furtherance of its mission and the charitable purposes of the particular Fund under which such grant was made.
